Food Trip Friday : Brownies, anyone?

My latest ventures in baking seems to be flourishing. I have added these brownies on my usual treats for sale.

This is plain brownies made with the bittersweet chocolates.

This on the other hand is my take on Rocky Road Brownies.

Now it's for you to decide which one to order. You can send me an email if you want to taste them.

Mommy Moments: Black and White

"It's Black, It's White It's Tough For You To Get By". I've got MJ's best songs playing on my background as I write this. Nice; especially because this week's theme of Mommy Moments is Black and White. I would like to share these images from two special occassions last December.

These are taken during his school's foundation day last December. They danced to the tune of America's latest hiphop tunes. It's nice to see him really enjoy the day with his classmates.

These were taken during their first communion. He was having a really good time with his friends in school.

Wanna see more black and white images of kids and mommies, then head on to Mommy Moments of Mommy Chris.

Dress Up Games

Have you ever wondered how it feels to be in another person's shoes? Children often do their dress-up games and my kid is no different. There was one time that we went to Museong Pambata and he was very excited because he was able to try out different work wears. Some of them was the fireman costume complete with the hats and a firetruck in tow. He was begging for us to go to there one of these days because he said he wants to try out those lab coats for doctors.

Dressing up games are healthy games for kids. It does not only broadens up their creativity but it always makes them be aware that each person has their own responsibility in nation-building. With these in mind , the kids will definitely be creative thinkers in the future and perhaps better leaders. So whether it be a hospital nurse uniform or an engineering cap, just give in to your kids desire. After all, you cannot always contain them to wearing just scrubs for kids.

And I guess even mommies will find those fashion scrubs to be worth the buy.

Food Trip Friday: Cinnamon Rolls

My kitchen life nowadays is mostly about baking. It has been my destressor for the past few months. I have always been on the look out for good baking recipes. Our kitchen is beaming with the smell of cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg the past couple of months. I want to brag about my most recent kitchen experiment and how it turned out really delicious. Much to my delight, even Hubby who is not fond of cinnamon rolls devoured an entire piece with his favorite brewed coffee. The best thing about this is that I am selling the fruit of my labors. Orders are now pouring in and most of them are from husband's officemates.

Mommy Moments: Rainbow Colors

Saint Joseph the Worker Church, San Jose del Monte bulacanToday is a special day for catholics all over the world.  I was excited because this is the first time that we were able to do Visita Iglesia as a family.  We visited 14 churches yesterday and we had a great time.  Not only are we able to be awed by the beauty of these churches but we were also able to reflect on the true essence of the Holy Week as a family. As my entry for this week's Mommy Moments, I've chosen a photo taken from one of the churches yesterday.  This is one of my favorite amongst the churches (and one of the two guys favorite as well).  And it goes very well for today's theme which is Rainbow colors. This is the altar of Saint Joseph the Worker Church in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.  It was the first church among our itinerary.  We loved the look of the rainbow colored stained glass on the altar and the huge area outside the church.  It was also very solemn and quiet inside that you can only hear the chirping of the birds.  The kid was even asking if we could perhaps go to this church some other time and chances are we will be.

As for today, we just spent the day with each other cuddling and exchanging stories. 'Twas a very rare occassion indeed that the three of us spends time like this so I really enjoyed my two days off for this week. Something that I would not exchange even for 260% additional compensation for working on these days.

Happy Moments Mommies!

Baking for a Healthier Me

Me + Baking = Healthy

This is the equation of my life these days. I have started in reviving my passion for baking which was buried deep within me simply because I don't have an tools. I had the chance to bake way back high school days (oh, please stop asking what year that was). I enjoyed it or better to say I super- duper enjoyed those days. It was really nice to work in the kitchen. I never had a sweet tooth but I always loved making pastries and the likes. It was Christmas 2009, when my brothers surprised me with an oven. Much to my delight, that very same Christmas, I made my very first Chicken Galantina. Mothers Day of last year, Hubby gave me a hand held mixer. That was the time that I started to hunt for baking recipes here and there.

Just recently, I have been really burnt out with all the works at home and at the office. I decided I would like to take a leave out of the usual routines of my life. I took out the mixer, bought some good (read: pricey) ingredients and started to make the recipes I have been keeping for months now to come to life. Voila, results are good (at least for someone who had not been baking for years now). I am thankful because it does not only give me an outlet for destressing but three months after it is not giving me extra income. So , I guess the equation could still change in the future. i have to finish this post and head right to the kitchen, I have to finish the cinnamon rolls that is starting to smell from my oven.

Oh , I almost forgot, my Dad also gave me a bigger mixer as a present for my last birthday. And if you are wondering about those cinnamon rolls at my oven, I will post images of them later.

Back to School Shopping List

As early as now, the kid is already planning on his back to school things. Last year, we were able to save a lot because we did not purchased the big items that are normally included in the back-to-school shopping list. This year, it will be very different. The kid grew a lot which means that we have to buy new sets of school uniform. He is also begging me to buy him a new and bigger lunch totes . Not to mention we also need to look for sturdy backpack. I am eyeing those Stephen Joseph . Then there's the shoes , the books, the notebooks and the list can be very long. Good thing there is Dada who will be giving me the shopping money. Kids nowadays are very lucky, they get to enjoy both comfort and beauty at the same time. But , I could still remember those times when he used to lay sound asleep on his nap mat. Hubby is really right, I could perhaps start to think of the Kid as a kid and no longer a baby.
