I was blogwalking through other Mommy blogs and I came across another Pinay mom blogging about Cancer awareness. Now aside from breastfeeding, cancer awareness is another advocacy that I want to push through. Nine years ago, I came to realize that the Big C can actually creep into anybody's life. Our Mom was diagnosed with Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor, a rare type of cancer that attacks the nerves. Prior to her diagnosis, we never really know what Cancer was. All we know is that it exists and some are stricken and yes, I have to admit that I was thinking it was "sakit na pang-mayaman lang". But, no, that really is not the case. When Mom was diagnosed she was, I could about to enter the prime of her life. My youngest brother was about to graduate from college the following year, which for her, could mean, that she was also about to graduate from her responsibility of sending us to school. She could have enjoyed the life meant for her had it not been for the Big C. We have a lot of plans that never pushed through because the funds had to be diverted on her medical expenses. It was a painful experience specially for me, because I was the one that was tasked to look for other means to get additional assistance for her. I lined up in PCSO's office, the congress and yes I was the one who always talked with doctors. I educated myself regarding medical terms, and I was thankful that Google was already there to help me out. Now, apart from the burden of looking for additional assistance, I also appointed myself as my mom's personal caregiver. I was the one who bathe her, fed her and gave her medicines. For me, it was my way of showing my affection and it was my way of giving back all the attention that she had given the entire family. And yes, I was doing all these things while I was also taking care of my new bown baby then. Mama was never a hard patient to deal with. She would obliged drinking whatever medicines that she is given, eating all the foods she is told to consume. Cancer made us suffer financially, I would say. But, it was also Cancer that brought the bond of our family even closer. We learned how to say the rosary as a family. We learned to live life fully day in and day out. We learned to celebrate each milestone, however small it was. We learned that we can only depend on each one. And, in that in the end, we were able to realize how lucky we are for having Mama as our mother. We witnessed how other people loved her and how she was able to make a difference in those person's lives. Help came pouring in up until the time that she already passed away. Not necessarily financial help but prayers. And for us, for me, that was what we really need then.
Yes, Cancer could have taken her from us but the Big C did not took her memories with it. Her memories will remain forever. This is the reason why each time I know someone stricken with Cancer, I always tell them the story of my Mom, a story of a person who battled the disease for almost six years. The very reason why I am joining fellow bloggers for the Charity Blogging for Cancer Awareness. I would like people to know that it is indeed true that Cancer could take the people we dearly care about but it can be prevented. We just have to be aware of what we eat, our lifestyle and specially how we take care of our bodies.
Come December a whole day affair for for cancer patients and survivors. There will be freebies, contests and performances. To all Mommy bloggers out there, let us take time to help out cancer patients. Let us make use of our power to spread the word. Please go to Life and Fever to more about this upcoming event and how we can help.

A New Entry, at last!
It feels great to be back to what you love doing. My hands has been very full last year that I was not able to make anything for this site. I promise to be a better blogger this year. Not only because I am getting something out of blogging but because I missed being here and having a slice of my idea shared online.
I will try my best to at least spend a few minutes to talk about the things I love and to rant about those that I don't. I just hope that people would still take some time to read my thoughts and share some comments.
At last, I have a new entry after more than a year of hiatus. If you can, please check out my new look and take some time to look at my address bar, it now reads, www.momfrommanila.com. The good thing about this, I got the package for free.(yey!) The chicken reports the scattering stair throughout our composite.

Take it! Take it!
No, this is not about the scam that made Gabby Concepcion fly to the US. It's all about the rollercoaster ride that I am having at work.
I have been tapped by supervisors from my account to train for a new LOB (line of business). To be honest, I was elated by the fact but then I was also in fear of this fact. Elated because I can't even be considered a veteran in the account but opportunities seems to come by. In fear because being the non-technical person that I am, this are all new to me. Few months back I don't even know what nameservers are or what how a website makes its way to our computer screens. The LOB that I was told to handle would be one of the hardest in this account. And yes, I admitted that this is one of my waterloo. But then, being the open-minded person that I am, I am looking at all the opportunities as additional knowledge and I would like to grab them as they come my way. (Blame it on my high school teacher who embedded me with the notion that "opportunities only knock once." and they should be taken or they will be gone in a matter of time.) So there it goes, sooner I will be under training again. Whatever happens with the training, I know it will be to my advantage.
And oh, I almost forgot to say, chances are I will have my own domain name and hosting package for free. Yeey!

Downtime at the office
A lot of things have been changing these past few days. The volume of calls that we are receiving suddenly dropped down. I know that for the management this is not a good sign. But, hey I am only an agent (a normal one at that!) who simply adores those avail time because it means catching up on the latest chika at the office or even from the life of my seatmate.
Avail time is a gift for us. This basically means time to spend chatting and to me it means being able to update this blog that I have neglected for the past few months. It is not that I do not have anything to share but I just cannot find the time to update my site. I bet right now you could already imagine the feeling of being gifted some minutes to make this entry.
I hope that the following days will be the same as today (and the previous days), that way I take some time to make more updates.

Thanking the Heavy Rain
It has been a long time since I have been able to write anything here. I have been too busy with the recent movement in the office. With my new account comes a lot of new learnings as well. It's like taking a crash course in computer terminologies and it feels most of the time that my head is about to burst with the new knowledge. The hardest part of it? well, it's not the learning but the unlearning of all the process that have stayed on my system for almost three years.
I must admit thanking the heavy rains that poured over Metro Manila for the past few days. It makes me stay home for almost five days. Yes, I was not able to come to the office last night because of the heavy rains. It felt bad but it also felt right. I had the chance to revisit this site and saw how I actually neglected it over the past few weeks.
I do hope that the end of my training ( which will be in two weeks time ) will give me more time to do what I really love to do. And yes, Blogging is surely one of them.

Google Page Rank Update
A few hours ago, I checked on my Google PageRank and it I got the surprise of the day. My Google Page Rank has been increased from 0 to 1. This is such a delight because I know that the ranking has just been updated last month. I have been waiting for my page rank to increase since then but to be honest I was not expecting this to happen in a months time. I would like to think that this is a sign that I really should take blogging seriously.
How about you, have you checked on your Google Page rank recently?

Feels Great to be Back
It feels that I have been totally disconnected to the world since I was not able to use the computer for almost four days. No, I did not have any problem with my internet connection. The problem was my PC needs the touch of a repairman. A webcam was actually given to me by my brother who lives (and works) in Singapore. But then when we tried to use it, it was not compatible to the operating system that have been installed in my PC. It needs Windows application but my PC has Linux installed. I am not a techie person and I know nothing about hardware/software installation. It's good that one of my cousins was just a text away. Instead of just fixing on the problem, he decided to take a few steps furhter. He asked me to buy some blank CDs and copied the piles of pictures and videos that I have been keeping for years. All the files have been saved on other CDs as well. And I was so happy after because I was able to have two operating systems installed on my PC now. And mostly because I have never worked with a speed like this before.

Multiple Domain Website Hosting
I have been sitting in front of my computer for more than three hours just trying to get a picture of how website hosting goes. I'm thinking of bringing my blog a step higher by purchasing a domain name. The problem is that I am not a techie person, and I just don't know how to go about exporting the contains of this blog to a new domain. I am also planning on having either a food blog (because I love to cook and eat!) or a photo blog (so I can pacify the hidden desire for taking photos and being photographed). Good thing there is a site that helps out in getting even multiple domain web hosting. The site lists places where you could get all sort of information regarding website hosting. It can ease up a blogging mom's work because they have also a blog that enumerates what you should learn before buying your much wanted domain.
I am already being tempted on getting my own domain but then again I am still thinking. Is it already the right time? or should I wait some more? What if I need more help on the technicalities of building my own nook in cyberspace? I guess I will have to read more about web hosting then.

Increasing My Page Rank
I have already said in a couple of entries here that I am contemplating on working-from-home. I have actually tried to check most of the online money making deals and I have found some good ones that serves my interest. I know that the increasing my page rank should be the first step because it means that I have better readership which consequently means that I have good content. I happen to come across an experiment being conducted aiming to increase the page ranking of those who wish to participate. The rules are pretty easy and yes, I'm participating on it. What is nice is that the top referrer of the experiment will be awarded a domain and website for free. How cool could that be?
So, if you guys, want to Increase your PageRank, try clicking on that horizontal banner below.
Who knows? It might help us.
